Commissioner James “Jay” Jones, District 6

James “Jay” Jones was elected to the Chatham County Commission on November 8, 2016.  He was elected to serve a four-year term. Prior to his election as  County Commissioner, Commissioner Jones worked closely with the youth throughout Chatham County.

His past and current civic involvement includes:

Founder of CHANGE for the Next Level
Member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
Current Executive Member of Savannah Branch NAACP 
Current 2nd Vice Chair of the Chatham County Democratic Committee
Former Mentorship Chair of the 100 Black Men, Savannah Chapter 
Former Vice Chair Savannah Chatham Fair Housing Council
Former pastor in the AME Church 
Recipient of numerous civic and leadership awards

He is happily married to Nakeisha N. Jones and they are the proud parents of Johannes M. Jones who is currently enrolled in Savannah-Chatham County Public School System.  Commissioner Jones is self employed.  He attended Windsor Forest High School, Beach High School, Shaw University and Savannah State University.
