The nine members of the Chatham County Board of Commissioners, as well as Chatham Chatham County Corner David Campbell, took their oaths of office during an inauguration ceremony at the Savannah Civic Center on Jan. 2.
This ceremony marks the start of the four-year terms for the Chatham County Board of Commissioners, including two new commissioners for District 1, Wayne Noha, and District 8, Marsha Buford.
Incumbent commissioners include District 2 Commissioner Malinda Hodge, District 3 Commissioner Bobby Lockett, District 4 Commissioner Pat Farrell, District 5 Commissioner Tanya Milton, District 6 Commissioner Aaron Whitely, District 7 Commissioner Dean Kicklighter, and Chatham County Chairman Chester A. Ellis.
In his inauguration address, Chairman Ellis highlighted the goals for the next term and gave thanks to those who put their faith in him and the other commissioners. Ellis also charged those in attendance to get more involved with County Commission.
"I stand before you to challenge you to help this commission help you," Ellis said. "Without you, we cannot do it. But if we work as One Chatham, we can overcome anything that faces us.”
