For the second year in a row, honorary Chatham Emergency Management Agency (CEMA) team member Collin Foley lent a hand in testing the county’s emergency siren system. Collin, who has long been fascinated by the mechanics and function of the sirens, joined CEMA staff to ensure the system operates as expected. Collin was able to relay information to CEMA staff in the field and play an integral role in the test.

Every month, Collin, and his family step outside at noon on the first Wednesday to experience the siren test firsthand. During the test, the sirens sound for one minute, allowing residents to become familiar with the warning signal while giving CEMA staff a chance to check the system’s functionality and identify any maintenance needs.

Collin and his family also toured the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), where they explored the critical roles and operations that keep Chatham County safe during emergencies.

CEMA appreciates Collin’s enthusiasm and support in helping keep the community prepared and informed!
