EVERYBODY PLAYS!
The Challenger League at Ambuc Stadium serves to level the playing field
so kids of all ages and all abilities can have fun
We challenge you to find a better sports league anywhere in the world.
Challenger Leagues allow boys and girls of any ability to fully participate and have the experience of team sports. They bat, run, field, throw, and score to the best of their abilities in a safe environment, and like their motto says, “Everybody Plays.”
Onfield Buddies both assist and protect their player-partners, making sure they don’t get hurt and they don’t miss any opportunity to play as fully as possible. With closeup physical support, guidance, and encouragement from a Buddy, each Challenger League player is a star athlete.
Ambuc Park’s Miracle Field and its adjacent playgrounds are designed for adaptive participation. Their special wheelchair-friendly surfaces and accommodating equipment make play accessible for all.
This Spring is the County’s 4th Challenger League season, with approximately 40 kids getting to experience playing at Ambuc Park. Last year a group of these athletes went all the way to Nationals in Warner Robbins to play on the big field. Experiences like these are what Challenger League sports are made for!
Chatham County Parks and Recreation’s Challenger League is actually a hybrid. The County partners with Little League (the founder of Challenger Leagues) to offer baseball and with Top Soccer to offer a parallel soccer team experience.
If you know someone who would love the experience of playing in Chatham County’s Challenger League, visit the Parks and Recreations registration site HERE to sign up. Registration closes May 5th and is only $1!
Would you love the experience of being a Buddy for a Challenger Allstar? Visit the same registration site and sign up as an Assistant Coach. When you sign up to be a Buddy, you’re also giving a Challenger League player’s parents the opportunity enjoy the experience as number one fans, cheering for their favorite athletes from the bleachers.
There are a number of ways to lend your support to the Chatham County’s Challenger League: volunteer, donate, refer participants, spread the word, and --last but certainly not least – attend their games. Sunday afternoons at 1:00pm, you’ll find them at Ambuc. Everybody plays, and everybody can cheer for that!
