This week’s snowstorm was exciting for many, but also something Chatham County residents are not used to. As soon as it became clear that the winter storm would impact Chatham County, E911 began extensive preparations.
The Future Is Now: GIS Mapping Technology
Chatham GIS specialists are cutting-edge mapping scientists using robots, lasers, computers, and coded maps to do incredible things every day. In the 1800s, Lewis and Clark took 2 years, 4 months, and 10 days to map 4,162 miles of the Pacific Northwest and the vast Louisiana Purchase. GIS specialists could do the job in one day without ever leaving their desks.
